“No caption needed. The vibes and attitude say it all.”

This is what I got from Hannah Rose when I texted her asking for a quote she’d like to put on this blog. She said she had no brain cells and just went with this. Her initial quote was “Trust the process”, but it honestly does not vibe with the photos in this blog I took for her.

From Kuala Lumpur, Syrian descent, internationally grown, never-settle, always-fire, student, leader, feminist, boss-lady, and model of the day.

Hannah Rose, ladies and gentlemen.

“I wanna journey.”

I met Hannah Rose when she arrived on my campus for training as my Resident Advisor. She was fierce-full of ideas, passionate, and self-motivated. Soon enough she was calling shots on her floor and building communities like none other.

It all begins when she came into my office for our meeting in the fall. “I want a journey,” she said, “I have gone through a long way and I want to tell you about it. I want a great year and you are gonna be here witnessing it.”

That was when we really connected. The next week we set up an interview scene, Billie Eilish style. She talked a lot. I promised to revisit that in May and make some edits so we could see how much she has grown.

“What have you been doing?”

The next time we caught up, it was well into June. She had returned to Burlington to start the summer. “Let me bring my cameras, then.” I told her.

We talked about not having the chance to redo the second part of the “my journey” video. “That’s cool, let’s do it one year apart.”

“So what have you been doing?” We sat by Church St, and I rose my camera to put her in my viewfinder.

First time you meet Hannah, you would not have seen the fire in her.

But as you get to know her better, lord.

“Fuck em.” She regularly says that to express her feelings for things, events, and people.

Hannah Rose is alive. She is woke, she is passionate. she has so many ideas that sometimes they clog. I remember couple occasions where I had to guide her through options because she be so excited. She’s ready to go everywhere and do everything.

Love or hate, Hannah Rose will let you know through her eyes.

But she is down-to-earth, and up-for fun.

“What’s the wildest shit you’ve done?”

Hannah Rose thru the lens is not Hannah Rose in real life. She shows stunning beauty on the screen but she doesn’t tell stories thru my photos. So I asked her this question.

“Been to 35 countries.”

On top of that she also runs a student organization and is constantly on the frontline of student activism. She cares about it all.

That probably explains why her eyes look so knowledgeable in this photo.

The next time we met, she suggested getting some milk tea.

It was a warm day but that didn’t stop us from having some fun with the Polariod.“Like how this black abnd white feels.” She said. “Take a photo of me holding this photo.”

Hannah Rose is a perfectionist.

Iet’s end by saying this will not be the only shoot I have with Hannah Rose. I have enjoyed her passion, her wisdom, and more. If you get to this moment, why not give her a follow on Instagram?
